I wish I could tell you that just switching up your shampoo or taking the right food supplement is the solution to all your hair loss, thinness, or breakage, but I can’t. While there are some products on the market helping people regrow their hair, it can be a hit or miss solution for many. And that’s because most of the time our hair loss is more complicated.
Many women talk to me about their hair loss as if it’s an isolated condition. However, speaking further, I soon learn many have a history of erratic periods, mood fluctuations, inappropriate weight gain and even more serious conditions like PCOS. There is no way hair loss isn’t related! If we are going to make headway with regrowing hair, we must address these other symptoms and conditions as part of your hair loss pathology. Ayurveda can help.
Compartmentalisation of a health condition has been our popular approach and has us treating symptoms instead of the root cause; which tends to lead us on a wild goose chase. While in emergency medicine this is certainly appropriate, for overall health and prevention (prevention for the NEED of emergency medicine) we must examine the body as a single organism and even further, consider the health of the material structure to be largely dependent on its relationship to the mind and spirit. Therefor, if you want to address your hair loss, looking at the whole you is what its all about.
Here is the good news and bad news: Your self-care on a daily and seasonal basis defines your health. Until you’ve got yourself into the daily/seasonal groove, whatever herbs, medicines, supplements you take are just going to be a superficial management and likely, eventually fail. The good part is that we have the power of choice and Ayurveda as a resource. Ayurveda has 10,000 years of knowledge and practice in prescribing health protective practices appropriate to the individual and specific to age and gender. While change is hard, getting your Ayurveda foundation in place can have serious benefit. It will even support you getting the most out of whatever Allopathic intervention your doctor may have prescribed and perhaps, eliminate the need for continued Allopathic intervention over the long term.
So, if you’re struggling with hair loss or thinning, let’s talk about your status with reproductive health. Addressing these other symptoms or conditions as part of a greater pathology is essential to potentially reversing hair loss; along with use of fantastic shampoo and supplements, of course. Plus, you’ll likely get some relief from all those other imbalances that, based on common knowledge, seemed unrelated.
